3-peat for KD

Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach Mike Brown announced that he will be resting his starters against the Sacramento Kings. That means no Kobe Bryant. No one to score 38 points. No catching up to Durant. Therefore, Kevin Durant is the scoring leader for this year again.

At his third year in the NBA, he boasted a scoring line of 30.1 points per game. In the next year, his numbers dropped due to the emergence of fellow All-Star and friend, Russell Westbrook. This time, he ended the shortened NBA season (due to the lockout) by posting 28.0 points per game. Behind him was Kobe, who was averaging 27.9 PPG.

The race wasn't surprising, as this happened in the NBA before. And those players were George Gervin and David Robinson.

Winning his third scoring title consecutively means much to Durant, as he now belongs to the group of elite players who have done the same in the past decades. He will join THE Michael Jordan, George Gervin, Bob McAdoo, Wilt Chamberlain, Neil Johnston and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He is also the youngest player to win the scoring title and win it consecutively.
